Happy November! The leaves are falling quickly and so are the temperatures! As long as it is above 32 degrees, we will go outside for recess. Please send your student in clothes that are appropriate for the weather. This includes pants, a jacket or a coat, a hat, and gloves (when necessary). If your child needs a coat, please contact Mrs. Kesler.

Please write your student's name on their coat, backpack, lunch box, etc. It makes it much easier to identify when one of these items is lost.

Our students will perform their Veterans' Day program on Wednesday, November 12th at 9:00 AM. Students are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue clothing that day. Van Duyn students and staff extend a huge thank you to all of the veterans and active-duty military out there!

Fundraiser items can be picked up from 2:00 to 5:00 PM on Wednesday, Nov. 12th.

Picture retakes will be on Wednesday, Nov. 19th. If your student was absent on the first picture day or if you need a new order form, please let us know. We have extras in the office. If you are not happy with your child's photos (taken in October), you can send the COMPLETE package back to school on Retake Day. The photographer will collect the package in exchange for a new photo to be used.

Thanksgiving Break is Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, November 26, 27, and 28. We will not have school on those days. Enjoy the long holiday weekend with family and friends, and be safe if you're traveling!

More information will be sent home to 4th grade students in November regarding the Robotics Club.

The winter program will be held on Thursday, December 11th, in the auditorium at SVHS. Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades will begin at 5:30 PM and 3rd and 4th grades will start at 7:00 PM.

If your child is not feeling well, please keep him or her home. Cold and flu season is upon us, and school is an easy place for germs to spread! As always, if your child has a fever of 100 or greater, has been vomiting or has diarrhea, he or she must NOT have any of these symptoms for at least 24 hours before returning to school.

In accordance with the SVCS Elementary Student Handbook, please call or email changes for the end of the day to madams@svcs.k12.in.us by 1:30 PM!
