Viking Vision

March 2026

March is already going fast. It will be a busy month and will go by quickly. We have iRead testing on the 4th and 5th; we end the third grading period on the 6th; we "spring forward" on the 8th by setting our clocks ahead one hour; we have Spring Break from the 16th through the 20th; the first day of spring happens on the 20th; our scheduled two-hour delay (for professional development) is on the 25th and the book fair begins on the 30th.

We will conduct IREAD testing in 2nd and 3rd grade on the 4th and 5th, beginning both days at 8:15. Please have your child at school on time.

Happy Spring!

Press 1 to Leave a Voicemail on Attendance Line by 9:00 AM

If your child is absent, please call the school at 765-832-7761 and press 1 to leave a voicemail stating why your child is out.

Absence Policy for Fever, Vomiting and Diarrhea

As always, if your child has a fever of 100 or greater, has been vomiting or has diarrhea, he or she must NOT have any of these symptoms for 24 hours or more before returning to school.

End-of-Day Changes (Passes) Must be Requested Before 1:30 PM

The SVCS Elementary Student Handbook states that if changes are needed during the school day, the parent/guardian must notify the office by 1:30 PM. Please call or email changes for the end of the day to madams@svcs.k12.in.us by 1:30 PM!

After 1:30, we cannot guarantee that a student will receive any changes.

PLEASE LIMIT CHANGES TO EMERGENCIES ONLY! Frequent changes are confusing for students and staff, and can lead to mistakes.

SVCS Attendance Policy

Just a reminder, an after-school detention will be assigned after every 5 tardies.

Attendance letters will be sent when a student accumulates 5, 8, and 10 absences. These letters will be sent regardless of whether they are excused or unexcused absences.

Please have your child at school and on time every day. If your child will be absent, please call the school and leave a voicemail on the attendance line by 9:00 AM.

Sending Money to School

When sending money to school to pay for something, please put it in an envelope or Ziploc bag with your child's name on it and include in writing what you're paying for.

Please be sure to send EXACT CHANGE, as we do not keep cash on hand to make change.
